NSS started as an international development project in 1995 and promoted the Spanish school industry in Nicaragua to international prominence from 1997 to 2006 while representing five Spanish schools, and then three of its own. In 2006, NSS's three schools were turned over to local ownership. Today, many of the Spanish schools in Nicaragua are owned or staffed by former NSS teachers and administrators and many of the schools still use program methods, marketing tools, and didactic materials created by NSS.

Below is a list of some of the leading Spanish schools in Nicaragua with their basic one-week full immersion language and culture program compared by price, as can best be determined by the published pricing on their webpages at the time of this page's last update.
